On yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of witnessing my mother-in-law give her trial/introductory sermon.  Her message was more of a question, “Are you truly thankful?”  With the economy in the staate that it is in, the job market looking the way it does, H1N1 sweeping through our country and senseless violence on a rise, we have to make sure that we always maintain a positive attitude and despite what is going wrong, be thankful for what is going right.

Well I pose that question to all of you, ARE YOU TRULY THANKFUL?  When you get cut off in traffic, do you curse at the person who cut you off, or do you say “Thank you Jesus, my brakes work.”  Think about it, if you are truly thankful, start acting like it.  When you wake up, say a prayer, when you go to sleep, say a prayer.  When someone does something nice for you, say, “THANK YOU”  Be Blessed!!!

For today I want to shed some light on the situation surrounding the honor student who was savagely beaten to death in the streets. This goes to show how the youth of our nation are misguided and have no direction. They have a lack of morals and a lack of role models.
Parents, take time to talk to your children, but even before that, women, be mindful of the men that you are having children with. What kind of example are they going to be for your sons and daughters? Your child is a COMBINATION of good and bad qualities that BOTH parents possess. Be mindful of who you are having casual sex with because anything can happen. If a “slip up” happens, be prepared, if you happen to be the more rational of you two, to carry a lot of the weight when it comes to raising the child. Talk to them, teach them right from wrong, get their emotions in check, take time to shape and mold them into the people they are supposed to be. Stop letting TV and movies and other irresponsible family members and friends raise your children. YOU are responsible for them and who they become, from conception!!! Give them someone to look up to. Be an example for them, if that means, putting down the cell phone, not going out to the club and just playing with G.I. Joes or Barbie dolls, then do it. The little bit of time spent can make a world of difference. Be Blessed!
